WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE ASPEN SKIN TRANSFORMATION?

Following your one-on-one consultations and review of your medical history, your provider will begin by helping you get relaxed and comfortable in the treatment chair. Following a double cleanse, she will then perform an intense evaluation of your skin under a magnification lense.  When this is complete she will review the detailed plan for your treatment based on your specific needs.

The Aspen Skin Transformation uses combinations of the following treatments to produce its one-of-a-kind results:

Dermaplaning: Dermaplaning is a deep exfoliation procedure that removes the very superficial dead skin layer and “peach fuzz” hair.  It is performed with a gentle scraping motion. This comprehensive process leads to the promotion of new skin growth and targets problematic skin conditions such as: rough texture, dull complexion, fine lines and wrinkles. It also allows topical treatment products to penetrate the skin to better depths where they really work.

Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion is another deep exfoliation technique which is performed using a suction device with a diamond tip that feels a little scratchy like mild sandpaper as it glides over the surface of your skin. This makes a big difference for the steps that follow which may include chemical peels, Hydrafacial®, radiofrequency, laser, and IPL, enhancing their ability to penetrate deeper into the dermis resulting in a more effective treatment.

Galvanic: Galvanic technology works by converting alternating electrical current into one direct current. Charged electrical ions within the skin will either be attracted or repelled by the current. One of the main reasons we use galvanic in our corrective facial treatments, is for desincrustation to remove congestion and blackheads from the pores.  Galvanic technology is able to achieve a deeper extraction via a process known as saponification. This also makes the extraction portion of our facial treatments extremely tolerable compared to other pore extraction procedures or techniques.

Custom Chemical peels: different concentrations and types of Alpha + Beta Hydroxy acids are incorporated into our corrective facial to address multiple skin concerns and conditions.  The combination of AHA, BHA, and concentration of these is fully customized based on each client's concerns and goals for their treatment.

Microcurrent: During a microcurrent facial treatment your medical esthetician will be moving small electrical probes around your face, which pass painless electrical current into the skin on your face and neck to help tone, lift, firm, and re-educate tired muscles. This low-voltage electricity stimulates muscle, cell growth, and collagen development in the dermis on the face. This conditions facial muscles, stimulates collagen, and can make the skin appear tighter. The microcurrent device also uses three different currents that work together to allow for toning and better absorption of skincare products.

Radiofrequency: A radiofrequency facial is a non-invasive treatment that uses heat energy to create a controlled injury to your skin, which initiates the production of new collagen and elastin. These are the two major structural proteins within your skin which degenerate as we age. With any injury, whether it's a big cut or a tiny scratch, your body works overtime to heal the wound, creating collagen dense new skin cells, which increases skin firmness, tightness, and smoothness.

Mesotherapy: “No-Needle” Mesotherapy, also called Transdermal Mesotherapy, is a safe needle free way to deliver medical grade treatment products with higher concentrations of corrective ingredients into the ‘meso’ or middle layer of the skin. By using a mild low frequency currency together with ultrasound, the topical serums are transported via small channels through the skin's surface deeper into the cellular level for better efficacy. These corrective ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins, peptides and hyaluronic acid regenerate the skin, leading to healthier, smoother, toned and more youthful skin.

Lamprobe®: The Lamprobe® is a thin pen-like hand held instrument which quickly and effectively treats a variety of common skin irregularities including: age spots, benign moles,  cherry angiomas, cholesterol deposits, clogged pores, milia, and skin tags.  It has a sterile and disposable tip which is applied to the treatment area for just three to five seconds per spot. The heat generated at the tip of the probe dehydrates the lesion, sealing off the blood flow to the area.

Plasma Pen: A plasma fibroblast pen uses ionic charge to produce heat which targets the regenerative cells of the skin and stimulates them to make more collagen.  This is a great option for above or below the eye as well as larger areas that need an extra boost.

Microchanneling: microchanneling is the use of a pen microneedling device to make tine channels in the skin in order to drive active ingredient products to deeper layers of the dermis for higher efficacy and elevated results

IPL: Intense Pulse Light is a treatment similar to laser, which uses light energy to break up brown pigment, age spots, reduce bacteria which contributes to acne, and reduce inflammation which contributes to hypervascularity and background redness. IPL uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths which are absorbed by spots of discoloration or bacteria in the skin, heating up these spots and reducing the pigment and/or killing bacteria.

Q-switch: The Q-switch is a type of laser that fires only for a billionth of a second, allowing controlled and direct heat to break down the unwanted pigment in the skin. It can treat melasma and low contrast brown pigment. This is a very safe and effective treatment option for pigment concerns for those who have darker skin complexions.

Laser: we can use a long pulse YAG for diminishing larger and more stubborn vascular concerns like telangiectasias, broken capillaries, and cherry hemangiomas. The wavelength of the long pulsed laser reaches deeper into the skin, and targets water. It uses heat and light to dehydrate pigment, capillaries, and cherry hemangiomas.

THE ANSWERS YOU NEED

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Medically Corrective Facial vs a Spa Facial?
When it comes to a professional facial treatment, there is a difference between a day spa facial and a medical spa facial. The biggest difference is that a medical spa facial will use medical grade skincare products and can include medical-grade treatments like microdermabrasion, different depth of chemical exfoliation or peels, and energy based device such as laser, radiofrequency or IPL.
I have sensitive skin, is a Medical Facial beneficial for me?
Medical Facials address all different skin types and conditions and every facial is customized for each client's skin because when it comes to facials, one size does not fit all.
Why do I need medically corrective facials?
Regularly scheduled medical facials address improvement in skin health and maintenance rather than simply a deep cleansing and facial massage experience. However, everyone finds it to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Our corrective facial services are a very comprehensive regenerative combination of exfoliation, redness and vascularity reduction, brown pigment reduction, extraction and reduction of enlarged/clogged pores, dermaplaning, texture correction, skin tightening/ fine line reduction and bacterial acne management.
Why do I need a Medical Esthetician?
To look and feel its best, your skin needs personal attention from a professional. An experienced medical esthetician is able to deeply analyze your overall skin condition with the ability to treat the details with fully customizable chemical exfoliants, and energy based devices. In addition to professional in office skin treatments, a medical esthetician can prescribe a corrective combination of home based production that will help maintain your optimum skin health at home in between facials.
What can I expect at my facial appointment?
If you are a new client to our practice, plan to fill out your health history and intake forms prior to you scheduled appointment time. All new client appointments incorporate a consultations as well as an evaluation of your skin using a magnify lamp. Our providers will ask you about your goals for your skin, and make a recommendation for skincare products and treatments to help you reach those goals. A signature facial generally consists of a cleansing, exfoliation, steam, massage and a treatment mask. A corrective facial will incorporate much more, such as galvanic pore extraction, customized Alpha/Beta hydroxy acid peels, and laser or radio frequency based regenerative devices.
