Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) involves exposing the body to subzero temperatures. The setting will be chosen depending on your goals and can be anywhere from -160°F to -220°F
Our state-of-the-art Whole Body Cryotherapy system, the Cryoscience Arctic, exposes the body to extremely cold temperatures for a short period to promote various health and wellness benefits. The treatment typically lasts between 2-4 minutes.
Cryoscience Arctic uses liquid nitrogen to lower the chamber temperature to as low as -140°C (-220°F). This extreme cold triggers the body’s natural fight-or-flight response, stimulating blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting healing and recovery.
At Aspen Aesthetics + Wellness we are committed to helping you look and feel your best.
We’ll ask you to wear your undergarments and a bathrobe or body wrap provided (which we provide), and your body temperature will be recorded by an Elevated Wellness Technician. Additionally mittens, socks, and slippers will be donned to protect your extremities. A face mask and hat are available on request. After you have changed in a private room and are suited up in your cryo gear, you’ll spend 1 to 3 minutes in our Whole Body Cryo Chamber (depending on how well your body tolerates the cold). You may feel an intense cold sensation, but this feeling is brief and improves once you get out. The whole process takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. While cryotherapy does come with some risks, it is generally considered safe when performed by trained professionals. Our staff is present to control the temperature levels and ensure your comfort, making cryotherapy a very safe and effective treatment.
Liquid nitrogen is used as a chilling agent and is well-monitored to ensure it does not come into contact with your skin. Our chamber comes equipped with a window that can be rolled down. This ensures you have as much contact with our Elevated Wellness Technician as you’d like. The door to the chamber is also never locked, so you are in full control of getting in and out of the chamber at all times. After a cryotherapy session, it’s recommended to engage in light physical activity to help re-warm your body. Stay hydrated and follow any specific post-session instructions provided by your Elevated Wellness Technician.
Side effects from Whole Body Cryotherapy can include temporary redness, skin irritation, and numbness. In rare circumstances, risks could include frostbite if the procedure and protocol are not performed properly. All of our Elevated Wellness Technicians have been thoroughly trained and certified on our specific Whole Body Cryotherapy device.
