Red Light Therapy

BEST VERSION OF YOU

Red Light Therapy in Colorado Springs

Red light therapy (RLT) is a treatment that uses low-level wavelengths of red light to penetrate the skin and promote various health benefits, such as skin rejuvenation, pain relief, and improved cellular function.

Red light therapy works by emitting red and near-infrared light that penetrates the skin and stimulates cellular activity. This process enhances ATP production (cellular energy), reduces inflammation, and promotes healing and regeneration.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

During a red light therapy session, you will be exposed to a red light device for 15-30 minutes. The treatment is painless, and you can relax or listen to music while the light does its work. Unlike tanning in a tanning bed, red light therapy is considered safe and non-invasive. Our red light panels do not use UV light, so there is no risk of skin damage. This makes it suitable for all skin types and tones. Eye protection is not required; however, the lights are very bright, and looking at them directly can cause irritation. You will get the most benefits if your skin is clean and dry. The frequency of red light therapy treatments depends on your specific needs and goals.

For general skin health and rejuvenation, 2-3 times a week may be sufficient. For pain relief or more intensive treatments, treatments may be needed as frequently as every day. .

Results can vary based on the condition being treated and the frequency of treatments. Some people notice improvements after a few treatments, while others may require several weeks of consistent treatment to see significant benefits.

Red light therapy is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects. Some people may experience mild redness or tightness in their skin, which usually subsides shortly after the session.

You may not be a candidate for Red Light Therapy and may need to consult your primary care provider prior to red light therapy treatment if you are or have:

  • Pregnancy: Although red light therapy is generally considered safe, its effects on pregnancy have not been extensively studied.

  • Cancer: While red light therapy is sometimes used as a complementary treatment for certain types of cancer, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before using it, as it may not be appropriate for all cancer clients + members.

  • Photosensitivity: People with conditions that make their skin more sensitive to light, such as lupus or certain types of porphyria, should avoid red light therapy or use it cautiously under medical supervision.

  • Use of photosensitizing medications: Some medications can make the skin more sensitive to light, increasing the risk of burns or other adverse reactions during red light therapy.

  • Active skin infections or lesions: Red light therapy may worsen existing skin infections or lesions, so it’s generally recommended to avoid treating affected areas until the infection or lesion has resolved.

  • Eye conditions: Direct exposure of the eyes to red light can potentially cause damage, so it’s important to use appropriate eye protection during red light therapy treatment.

  • Severe or uncontrolled hypertension: Although red light therapy can sometimes help improve blood circulation, it may also temporarily increase blood pressure, so individuals with severe or uncontrolled hypertension should use it cautiously under medical supervision.

If you use medications such as Tetracycline, Digoxin (used for heart irregularities), and/or photosensitizing drugs (e.g., tranquilizers, sulfa drugs, oral anti-diabetic drugs, antidepressants, and steroids), please consult your physician before using red light therapy.
